General Criteria

Successful applications must assist the Trust achieve one of the following goals –

  1. to be the arts and cultural heartland of New Zealand
  2. to have a highly effective and sustainable voluntary health, welfare and community sector
  3. to protect and preserve our heritage and environment
  4. to achieve the highest level of participation in sport and leisure in NZ.

Goal 1

To be the arts and cultural heartland of New Zealand

  1. To qualify for funding an event, festival or programme must assist the region’s cultural advantage.
  2. The event, festival, programme or project must enhance the reputation of arts and creative diversity within the region.
  3. Higher priority will be given to -

Goal 2

To have a highly effective and sustainable voluntary health, welfare and community sector.

  1. To qualify for funding a project must focus on one or more of the following –
    1. addressing a demonstrated need in the community
    2. building a strong and sustainable infrastructure by way of -
    3. adding to the viability of the group by -
    4. taking a lead or trying a new approach.
  2. Higher priority will be given to

Goal 3

To protect and preserve our heritage and environment

  1. To qualify for funding a project needs to support an initiative that ensures the long term preservation of the regions environment and history.
  2. Higher priority will be given to –
  3. The Trust prefers projects that record or celebrate the regions history where there is wide community interest.

Goal 4

To achieve the highest level of participation in sport and recreation in New Zealand.

  1. To qualify for funding a project or programme must address issues that will encourage more people being actively involved more often and for longer.
  2. Organisations must also focus on building a strong and sustainable sport and recreation sector by -
